Off the list
At the beginning of President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs, he asked local government officials to make a list. The list contained names of alleged drug users and pushers in every city, every town, and every village in the country. A few weeks after he sat in power, people from the list were killed. Some killed by police, others killed by unknown vigilantes.
Within two years in January 2018, about 20,000 men and women have been targeted.
Many remain on the list. This is their attempt to get out of it.
